Driving to Wadi Rum is one of the easiest ways to reach the desert. Many visitors rent a car in Jordan and enjoy the journey through the beautiful desert landscapes on the way to Wadi Rum.

How to Get to Wadi Rum

Driving from Aqaba to Wadi Rum :

Aqaba is the closest city to Wadi Rum. The drive from Aqaba to Wadi Rum takes about 1 hour and covers around 70 km. The road is easy to follow and well maintained, making it a popular option for travelers.

Driving from Petra to Wadi Rum :

Traveling from Petra to Wadi Rum by car takes around 1.5 hours. The distance is approximately 110 km. The road passes through beautiful desert scenery and small villages in southern Jordan.

Driving from Amman to Wadi Rum :

Driving from Amman to Wadi Rum takes about 4 hours. The distance is around 320 km. Most travelers drive south on the Desert Highway before turning towards Wadi Rum

Driving from Jerash to Wadi Rum :

Driving from Jerash to Wadi Rum takes about 4.5 hours. The distance is around 350 km. Most travelers first drive south to Amman and then continue on the Desert Highway toward Wadi Rum.

Driving from Karak to Wadi Rum :

Driving from Karak to Wadi Rum takes about 3 hours. The distance is around 210 km. Most travelers drive south on the Desert Highway before turning towards Wadi Rum.

 

When arriving at Wadi Rum, visitors can park their cars at our office in Wadi Rum Village, located about 6 km after the Wadi Rum Visitor Center, before starting their desert tour with our local Bedouin guides.
